From a few strands to a room full of light.
The process does not have to look identical from piece to piece. Sometimes the story is simply the moment the shade begins to take shape—and the moment it finally glows.

Found objects, unexpected color and hundreds of individually chosen beads become one-of-a-kind pieces of functional art.
Enter the StudioEvery Beaded Light is composed one bead at a time. The colors, shapes, textures and little surprises change with every piece—so no two Beaded Lights are ever exactly alike.

Sometimes the shade begins the story. Sometimes the right base completes it.

“No two are alike.
Because no two stories
are alike.”
Some are quiet. Some are exuberant. Some begin with the sea, an old jewelry box, a holiday, a handful of millefiori beads or a frame that simply has the right shape. Together, they are unmistakably The Beaded Light.

A glimpse of the worktable before all those little decisions become light.
The magic is in the transformation. These are real works in progress — first strands, growing layers of beads, and the finished lights they became.
The process does not have to look identical from piece to piece. Sometimes the story is simply the moment the shade begins to take shape—and the moment it finally glows.

A strand begins as a handful of unrelated beads. As the shade fills, color, shape and texture start talking to one another—until the whole piece suddenly feels inevitable.

One of my favorites—a monochrome palette built bead by bead into something graphic, dimensional and completely transformed once it became a finished lamp.

From the first scattered strands to a shade full of movement, this one shows exactly how I work: I begin, I play, I change my mind, and I keep going until it feels right.

A soft palette can still have plenty of personality. Pink, pearl, crystal and silver build strand by strand until the whole piece feels dressed for the light.

Not every Beaded Light begins in the same place.
Some begin with the sea. Some with a favorite color, a room, a memory, a celebration—or simply a feeling you can’t quite describe yet.
Think of these as places to begin. Not rules to follow.
Your inspiration. Your colors.
Your Beaded Light.
Long before there was The Beaded Light, bringing an idea to life was already a part of my story.
Created around a simple thought that a children’s bookstore should be every bit as colorful and magical as the books that lined its shelves, I set out to create just that. And Children’s Chapters was born.
White bookshelves became little houses topped with colorful rooftops, and a book took flight beneath a scattering of stars in the logo. Walking through the door was meant to feel a little like stepping inside a storybook.
Where the Magic of Books Comes Alive.
Years later, my imagination found its way onto the pages of Pixie and Trixie Bug, a two-book children’s series. The stories came with an entire cast of bugs, each one imagined and designed by me, from the smallest detail to the biggest personality. Pixie, the barefoot bug in pink, was me; Trixie, dressed in teal, was my best friend.
I could see them in my head before they ever appeared on a page. Their personalities, their clothes, their quirks, even the little details that made each one them. I shared that vision with my illustrator, who brought my characters to life on the page.
I see what isn’t there yet.
Looking back, I realize I create Beaded Lights the same way. Today it might begin with a forgotten lamp, an unusual base, a naked shade frame, a handful of beads or a color combination I can’t stop thinking about. One choice leads to another until the piece begins to develop a personality and eventually becomes something entirely its own.
Then I turn on the light. The colors deepen. The crystals sparkle. Shadows dance across the walls. Something ordinary becomes something magical.
The colorful rooftops. The flying book and its little stars. Pixie’s bare feet and tiny anklet. The beads I choose one at a time today. Different chapters, but all part of the same story.

Tell me who it’s for. A person. A place. A memory. A milestone. A room you love. An heirloom lamp waiting for its second life. Whatever the inspiration, we’ll begin there and create a light that feels entirely yours.
